What Inspires Me?

What inspires me to write?

Poetry is the gateway to my creativity. I love to read poetry before I start to writing, it switches my whole conscious mind to something fluid and creative. This book, 10 Poems to Set You Free, is my favorite. I have had it since I was like 17 years old. It introduced me to some of my favorite poets (Nalini Singh, Mary Oliver, Rumi, David Whyte)

Wild Mind is my favorite writing book. It is written by Natalie Goldberg and she has a zen way of approaching writing that delves really deep. I have written some of my best things using prompts from this book.
Crystals in general are some of my favorite things, and labradorite is like my spirit stone. Just holding it makes you feel powerful and magical and like you are two steps away from entering Narnia.
Last, my photography. Photography came into my life at a time where I was at a low point and didn’t think I was worth much. Learning how to create images that people responded to was such an empowering act for me. Even, today, I rarely meditate or use crystals before I go take photos. I just trust myself-and that knowledge, that I can be enough to create something amazing without outside influence, takes me through some dark nights of the soul. #writerstarotchallenge #writing #writingcommunity #tarotreadersofinstagram #witchesofinstagram #bookclub #booklover #bookjunkie #nanwrimo

  1. I love it that you trust yourself when it comes to your photography. You do amazing work. 🙂 I’m beginning to trust myself as a writer–finishing my first novel had a huge part in that.

Also, now I want to go buy the two books you mention! Lol.
